Sungubala is an AA Recommended Bush Camp situated in the Northern Drakensberg of KwaZulu-Natal. This unique Bush Camp, on 500ha of pristine wilderness, is directly below the peaks of Hlolela and Sungubala (7000ft), just north of the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Area - Royal Natal. Surrounding the farm is approximately 30 000 to 40 000ha of conserved wilderness of World Heritage Site and the Maloti˜Drakensberg Transfrontier project and mountain environment, to which we have access. Sungubala farm forms part of the KZN Wildlife Conservancy of the Northern Drakensberg.
Sungubala provides a mountain wilderness experience, whether gained on a guided hike or just sitting relaxing within the camp's unique surroundings.
ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES:
- 6 x 2 bedded comfortable Safari tents, under thatched gazebos, with custom made log beds and decent mattresses, no stretchers.
- 3 x 2 bedded Thatched A Frame units.
- 1 x 8 sleeper mountain house. This has 2 x 4 sleeper bedrooms, 2 toilets and showers, a kitchen with breakfast nook, fireplace and BBQ facilities.
- The Safari and A Frame accommodation (18 people max) share spotless ablutions with hot and cold water and sufficient facilities
- The communal Boma has 2 lounges, one with fireplace, a kitchen incl. stoves and fridges with freezers, dining area, camp fire and BBQ area. Each unit has a personal cupboard in the boma with private utensils.
- Solar Power is used for lighting in the accommodation units, ablutions and kitchen, while Oil lamps contribute to the ambience of the Boma.
- Morning Tea and Coffee is served to the safari tented and A frame hutted accommodation units.
- Activities include: Guided Hiking, marked trails, access to horse riding and trout fishing, trapezing, bungi bouncing, zip lining, gorge swinging.
