Ardmore Guest Farm is situated in the scenic Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg below the 3 highest peaks in South Africa, Mafadi (highest at 3450m), Injisuti( second highest at 3410) and the majestic Champagne Castle ( third highest at 3377m) which are all situated in South Africas latest World Heritage Site. This is a malaria free area. The GPS co ordinates for the farm are 29-00.780 and 29-29.525.
Ardmore provides cosy farm style accommodation with a dinner , bed and breakfast service.
All our units are thatch and have fireplaces. The bedrooms are all en-suite and all have a shower and a bath. The mountain view cottages have a 4 poster queen bed in the main bedroom.Firewood is provided free of charge.
Wake up to a traditional farmhouse breakfast served on the verandah. Dinner is a is a lantern lit four course meal served in our Yellowwood dining room with complimentary wine.
Ardmore is the home of the brightly coloured cotton weaving business called African Loom.Watch them weave! The internationally respected “Ardmore Ceramic Art Studio ” is open to visitors 7 days a week. About 50 local Zulu artists work in the studio, and more than 200 pieces can be seen in the in the Guest House.You can enjoy swimming in the pool, mountain biking or bass fishing in the Ardmore dam.For the more energetic stroll up Ardmore hill, 250 m above us.
Activities in the valley:There are 2 golf courses, one an 18 hole championship course , tennis, swimming, hiking trails,bird watching etc. in the area
Local places of interest include Spioenkop Battlefield, Bushman paintings, Spioenkop Game reserve( where you can ride among the rhino and giraffe), the Drakensberg Boys Choir(Wednesdays at 15h30), a Falconry display centre(daily at 10h30), helicopter flips into the mountains, the Tugela Fall(2nd highest in the world)
